2019 Word of the Year: Healthy

This year’s word wasn’t hard to choose like last year…
I think if I had a word for 2018 it would have been “Enough”
Enough with everything.

2018 was a hard year for us.
A hard, hard, very hard year for us.

The first half was okay.
The second half starting around July
was when the proverbial “crap” hit the fan.

By July my mother-in-law began a downward health spiral
that would later claim her life.

During that spiral, my husband & I would be there every step of the way.
Honestly, we thought she would get better enough to live at an assisted living,
but much to our dismay, she had given up and wanted nothing more than to let go…
And she did…
A couple of weeks ago…

We miss her terribly every day
and… we just miss her.

Which comes to the 2019 word of the year.

Over the past 6 months,
I have literally been eating my feelings.
Not only that but with things going the way they were,
I had begun to understand healthy relationships and what they truly look like,
and how unhealthy relationships can pretty much destructive they can be.
UR’s can insidiously destroy a person.
But I digress…

In 2018 I put others over self to the point where I ended up in the ER in a bad way.
The doctor told me,  I don’t know what you’ve got going on but if you don’t relax, the stress of it all will kill you.

I didn’t know what to say when he said that,
but what I did know is that all the stress ended there.

With all this said
2019 is the year of Healthy

Healthy Relationships
Healthy Boundaries
Healthy Growth in All Areas
Healthy Me.

I am going to be the healthiest version of myself and live my best life, why?

Why not?

Me at my heaviest weight ever 210lbs just a week ago. I smile because I’m blessed, but 210 is not going to be hanging out with me in 2019.

What’s your word of 2019?

  1. I appreciate this post! Aww, I am so sorry to hear all of this. My 2018 sounds super similar to yours in terms of sadness. The 2nd half was horrible— I lost my brother to cancer (he only battled it 2 years), I lost my dog who I had for 14 years, and I had a miscarriage! I hope we both have a 2019 that is full of HEALTHY things. Best of luck.

  2. So sorry to hear of the sad news… 😦 It sounds like 2018 was very tough for you but I’m glad to see that you remain positive and have great goals for this new year. Living a healthier lifestyle has changed me completely. And it wasn’t nearly as hard as I expected!

  3. This is such a great word. I love that you have made it broad enough that there is no “failure”. There is something about setting to specific of a goal.
