Mixtiles (A Review)

It’s been a minute right?

This post won’t be long and I won’t go into all the reasons why I haven’t been writing. It’s a LONG and tedious story of how I always feel inadequate when I sit down to this laptop and think about writing a post.

Well, bad feelings aside, I love writing, and I am challenging myself to make one post a week. Will anyone read it? I don’t know, but still I will write…

Okay, so the real reason for this post, MIXTILES!

I know everyone has seen their ads on Facebook once or twice or a lot, and think, hey those look cool, but then you decide not to buy them because they seem gimmicky.

Not everyone? Just me and Mr. Foodie, huh… Sure.

See what had happened was…

My camera alerted me on my phone, and I had seen that a package had been delivered; I just didn’t know what it was.

Mr. Foodie got home ahead me from work and said, it was a surprise.

Okay a little backstory… I’m not a surprise kind of girl. I mean, if you’re going to surprise me with 43,000,000.00, I’ll take that, but just regular old surprises give me anxiety. One, because if I don’t like it and it shows on my very expressive face and hurts the feelings of the person surprising me, I’ll feel terrible, and two, because I will feel the unavoidable need to reciprocate, which isn’t the worst thing in the world, but still and I digress.

So I come in from the garage, head to the kitchen and on the island is a box from Mixtiles.

At first, I give him the side-eye, like, you didn’t do this, did you, and he patiently smiles back at me and says, “They were one sale, and I think you’re going to like this.”

I cautiously open the package and my heart leaps into my chest. The pictures were so precious, and I not only liked them, I LOVED them. The quality is great and they look really good on my wall.

I really like the fact that they will travel well. We are a military family, and moving a few more times is definitely in our future, so I have the peace of mind knowing that these photos will be okay during transitions to new places.

He bought a pack of 12 photos and with each layer I unboxed, I felt myself getting more and more emotional, especially since he included pictures I had not seen, but with the last layer I just lost it.

Earlier this year, I lost my person, the Yang to my Gray, my sister, my heart, my best friend to suicide. Knowing that I miss my friend every day, he surprised me with one of my favorite pictures of her and me. I was a mess. I lost it and cried. UGLY cried.

It was so sweet and so thoughtful of him to do that for me. I love him.

I am also grateful for a company like mixtiles that allowed him to create and gift me a beautiful memento without breaking the bank.
